A carriage dispute between Disney and YouTube TV puts fans in an interesting spot on Saturday. None of the Week 10 SEC action was available through the streaming service, sending a lot of people in the South into a frenzy.
Sankey sent a letter to NCAA president Charlie Baker on Oct. 25, obtained by ESPN, making it known that the SEC disagrees with the decision to allow athletes to bet on professional sports. He said in the letter that SEC presidents and chancellors came to the conclusion that "this policy change represents a major step in the wrong direction.
Sports betting is legal and regulated in 38 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and an NCAA survey conducted in 2024 found that 21.5 percent of male college athletes reported betting (legally or illegally) on sports at least once in the previous 12 months. At the Division I level, the number was 12.6 percent.
